All colour images are also available as black & white prints. The b&w previews offered here are produced by simply desaturating the image via Javascript. The result is a neutral b&w preview which may appear flat or too dark/bright. Before printing, however, each image is individually assessed and adjusted for best contrast, tonal quality, and dynamic range.

With images of the volcanic lake Mývatn (engl: `lake of midges´) which forms the northern extension of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, separating the Eurasian from the North-American plate. Due to its large population of midges in summer, the lake is a gathering ground for about a dozen of European and arctic duck species. The gallery also shows images of the surrounding volcanoes and nearby vents and fumaroles at Hverarönd as well as the geothermal bath Jarðböð.
