Giant reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, face detail.
This statue depicts the Buddha just before passing into Nirvana. Built in the reign of King Rama III, this tremendous Buddha image is an impressive 46m long and 15m high. The figure is modelled out of plaster around an inner brick core and finished in gold leaf.
