Staircase inside the Vienna State Opera
Staircase inside the Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) is one of the most important and busiest opera houses - and opera companies - in the world, producing 50 to 60 operas per year in approximately 200 performances with over 1000 people on its payroll. Although performances usually sell out all 2400 seats, half of its 100 million Euro annual budget has to come from state subsidies. The Neo-Renaissance style building was constructed between 1861 and 1869.
